The fraternity

Created on 4 May 1984, the birth of the fraternity (La Confrèrie) in the village of Vacqueyras was euphoric and helped to strengthen the links between the ‘men of vine and wine’. The aim of this association is:

  • to perpetuate the memory of the famous Provençal troubadour, RAIMBAUT who was born in Vacqueyras between 1156 and 1160,
  • to encourage people to discover and love the village of Vacqueyras and the surrounding region, to act in favour of the wines and terroir of Vacqueyras
  • to do everything possible to ensure that the originality and quality of Vacqueyras’ wines are recognised and promoted by all
  • to organise events where all those who contribute to making Vacqueyras wine known can meet each other
  • to spread the influence of Vacqueyras wines in France and abroad

Avignon Festival

Vacqueyras, Official Cru of the Avignon Festival since 1998

Deeply committed to the cultural vitality and international profile of its region, the Vacqueyras Cru has proudly supported the Avignon Festival since 1998.

Each year, wines from the appellation are served during the Festival’s key events, including opening receptions, press conferences, official gatherings and private functions.

Throughout the duration of the Festival In, three Vacqueyras wines — one white, one rosé and one red — serve as ambassadors for the appellation. These wines are selected through a blind tasting conducted by a panel of wine professionals. The winning cuvées are then presented to the press and officially unveiled to the public on the eve of the Festival’s opening.

As part of this special occasion, a Festival artist is inducted into the Brotherhood of the Master Winegrowers of Vacqueyras, strengthening the longstanding bond between wine and culture.

Collector Editions – Vacqueyras Wines in Festival Colours

The three ambassador wines feature exclusive collector labels combining the Festival’s official artwork with the original label of each winegrower.

These special editions are available for purchase at the official Avignon Festival Shop on Place de l’Horloge and are showcased during a dedicated Vacqueyras evening hosted at the Inter Rhône Wine Bar.

The Avignon Festival on Tour

Each year, a production from the Festival In travels beyond Avignon and is performed in selected villages throughout the region.

In Vacqueyras, the performance takes place in the courtyard of the village château, overlooking the magnificent Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range. A unique opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to experience the Festival in an exceptional setting.
